What is it?

Stand Up at Stanley is a brand new festival put together by Daniel Kitson in association with Stanley Arts and featuring Work in Progress shows by a carefully curated selection of the best, most exciting and currently available comedians working today.

There are twenty eight work in progress shows split over two days and scattered across the Stanley Halls site in four unique performance spaces along with a comparatively finished and currently touring show each night in the Main Hall to finish the day.

Most of these shows will be heading up to the Edinburgh Fringe in August with some heading out on tour later in the year with the end of July, something of an anxiety inducing deadline for comedians and a sweet spot for audiences.

Work in progress shows are by their nature loose, patchy, fascinating, exciting, often exploratory and sometimes experimental and the festival is a great way to see some of your favourite comedians alongside brilliant people you’re yet to discover with the schedule and the pricing structure hopefully encouraging curious audiences to stay on site and take a chance on someone new.

All work in progress shows are £8 to book in advance and it is strongly advised to book in advance as the rooms are limited in capacity and intimate in vibe. Tickets for the evening show (Tim Key or Sam Campbell) in the extremely lovely, main hall are £15 to book in advance.

However! - Any full price ticket holder (£8 or £15) once onsite - is entitled to an “on the day” discount rate of £5 per show across all other WiP shows and £10 for that days evening show in the main hall - We are holding back 100 seats for the evening shows each day which will only be available on site, on the day at the discounted rate to those already holding any full price ticket.
